Alpagga is a marketplace for second-hand equipment for professionals in the HoReCa sector (Hotel, Restaurant and Catering). The marketplace allows buyers to confidently acquire quality second-hand products with discounts of up to 85%. For sellers, it provides a platform to quickly sell equipment that is still operational to millions of potential buyers.

The challenge they want to solve

Due to growth, R&D or rearrangement issues, professionals of the HoReCa industry need to renew 8% to 20% of their equipment every year, although 90% of this equipment is still in working order. Because there is no easy way to sell and buy used equipment and because of potential additional costs (due to storage), professionals do not sell their equipment, and end up throwing it away and buying new ones full price.

The impact they have

Alpagga has a dual positive impact. On the one hand, the platform allows independent HoReCa actors to have access to more efficient equipment at a lower cost (compared to buying new equipment, which most often comes from Asia). On the other hand, Alpagga contributes to waste reduction and encourages the purchase of products that are better suited to the needs of end users.

The way we measure it

We measure it with the number of tons of CO2 avoided and the proportion of second-hand equipment sold on the platform.
